Investigating the effect of several Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) dilutions on biomass and specific growth rate of C. sorokiniana

High amount of turbidity was identified as one the important factor affecting successful cultivation microalgae in palm oil mill effluent (POME). In this study, Chlorella sorokiniana cultivated POME, under different dilutions 80, 60, 40 and 20% (v/v) with distilled water. The aim study is to investigate effect POME on specific growth rate microalgae. results found that, C. grew both sterilized unsterilized condition. result batch experiment showed 45 NTU produce maximum by 0.14 d-1, which correspond biomass production 4.06 g/L 0.2 5.94 respectively. high concentration 98 yield only 0.07 d-1 algae. Results 80% dilution optimal medium that can enhance POME. This could be useful reducing cost bioenergy generation
